Opening Day Johnson Elementary School September 19, 1949

Background

Johnson elementary school was opened on September 19, 1949, and it operated for 75 years until its closing on June 14th, 2024. The school was named after Harold H. Johnson, a former Natick school committee member who was elected in 1933 and served as the chairperson from 1934 to 1954. Johnson was the last "neighborhood school" in Natick where the majority of its students were walkers and lived in the neighborhoods surrounding the school. The school provided happy memories to all of the students who attended and now its legacy will live on through people's hearts and archives.
